What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, porcelain shells that are hand-made specifically to fit comfortably onto your existing teeth. The Porcelain Veneers Process Explained

The Consultation

During your free consultation, one of our expert dentists will talk to you about your individual concerns and how porcelain veneers can help. They will discuss the treatment options and confirm your eligibility for the treatment, and at this stage will discuss pricing options and the cost of the treatment.

Consultation appointments generally last around 15-30 minutes.

The Examination

During your examination appointment, your dentist will look at the current state of your teeth, taking photos, X-rays and digital scans or a dental impression of your teeth to ensure your veneers are expertly crafted to perfectly fit your existing teeth. A personalised record will be created along with a tailored treatment plan.

Examination appointments typically last around 30-40 minutes.

The Porcelain Veneers

Before we can fit your new porcelain veneers to your teeth, a very thin layer of enamel is removed from the front of the teeth. This allows for the veneers to fit snugly against your natural teeth and helps to bond the porcelain by creating a rougher surface.

Your dentist will then apply a thin layer of dental adhesive to your teeth, on top of which your veneers are placed.

With proper care, your porcelain veneers can last for years, giving you the confidence to keep on smiling.

Do you have to shave or file down my teeth? What will My teeth look Like, when they Are Reshaped?
There will be very minor adjustments to the teeth, but this is minimal, especially if the teeth have been straightened previously

Porcelain veneers are aimed to improve cosmetic dental conditions such as chipped, gappy, crooked, discoloured, small, and uneven teeth.
How long do porcelain veneers last for?
Porcelain veneers generally last 10 -15 years, some even lasts up to 20 years. Generally, your porcelain veneers life expectancy will depend on how well you look after and maintain them.
Do you have to shave or file down my teeth?
This depends on your current smile situation. Factors like the arrangement of teeth, teeth size and where the gum line is.
Will I get Cavities if I have Porcelain Veneers?
You can still get cavities under your Porcelain Veneers if you fail to take good care of your oral health. It is important to do regular dental check ups and cleaning aside from your daily oral hygiene.
